Before you cash that junk car, learn about our roots.
CashThatJunkCar was started in 2011 after I had a bad experience with a junk car. It’s kind of a long story, especially for an “About” page, but I feel inclined to tell it so that others in my situation can avoid the same thing. This is how CTJC came about:
In early 2011, I was in the market for a second vehicle – my wife had our only car and I didn’t need one because I lived within walking distance of my work. But when my office moved, I was forced to get a new vehicle.
So I started by looking online at all the usual suspects –Craigslist, Auto Trader, even eBay. I couldn’t find anything that I liked, so I went to a car auction to see my chances there. I found one car that I liked and started bidding on it. I got the winning bid and when I went to get the title, I was told that I had, in fact, been bidding on the car next to it – a maroon 1996 Cutlass Ciera SL.
You can imagine my disappointment.
I tried to make the most of it, so I paid for the car (which I was legally required to do), took it home and gave it a shot. Two weeks later it broke down and I was left with a hunk of junk in my parking lot. I tried calling a million places to see if they could come pick it up and possibly pay me some cash, but I never got a hold of a legitimate company.
I was stuck with this thing. I wasted my money and now my apartment complex was complaining that it was left there for so long. That’s when I decided to start this site.
I contacted the few legitimate companies that pay cash for junk cars. I partnered up with them and with my background in online marketing, I was able to help them out and they were able to help me out.
And now, I’d like to help you out. So if you are in a similar situation and just want to get rid of that junk car sitting in your driveway or parking lot, you’ve come to the right place.
